We live in a part of the world where most people have all the material comforts they desire, and yet many of us spend our lives seeking for something that will give meaning and purpose.
Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of rock group Queen, wrote in one of his last songs, "Does anybody know what we are living for?" Throughout the history of mankind, renowned thinkers and philosophers have sought to find the answer to the very same question.
It's interesting Freddie Mercury admitted in an interview shortly before his death that although he had had worldly success and earned millions of pounds, he was desperately lonely. His achievements and wealth were not able to provide him with the one thing he was longing for – "a loving, ongoing relationship".
We all need that relationship, but can another human fully satisfy that deep longing inside us? We were created to live in a relationship with God – a relationship that goes beyond even death.
Jesus said "I am the way". He is the only one who can bring us into a relationship with God. A relationship that fully satisfies us and gives meaning to our lives.
The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him" (John 3:16-17).

God also created order for our lives.

1. Life

Jesus said "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

God loves you and wants you to experience the peace and life that only He can give.

2. Humanity’s Problem—Separation

Being at peace with God is not automatic. Even if we think we're doing okay and don't need God because we lead "good lives" we would still probably all admit to doing things we know are wrong. These "wrongs" put us in debt – just like with money. As soon as we do something wrong, it gets added to the credit card bill. The problem is, we do so many things wrong so often, we can never pay the debt. So who picks up the tab?
Compared to Jesus we all fall short of being perfect. The meaning of sin is putting ourselves first and rebelling against God. And the consequence of this is that a barrier is built between us and Him which cannot be crossed by our own efforts, resulting in serious punishment.
The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Romans 6:23 adds: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". Humanity has tried to bridge this separation in many ways…without success.

3. God’s Remedy - the Cross

When we are financially in debt, we need someone who is in credit, i.e. someone with money, who can pay our debt. It is the same morally. We need someone who is in credit, i.e. someone who hasn't done any of these wrongs. That person is Jesus.
When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He paid our moral debt, removing the separation between us and God. When He rose from the dead three days later, He proved that God can give us life after death.
Jesus lived on the earth to show us we do not have to live self-centred lives. There is something bigger and greater to give our lives to - the Kingdom of God.

In the Bible, Jesus Christ says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

Once again, forgiveness from our sin is not automatic – just as you need to arrange for your credit card bill to be paid, we must act on God's invitation. God invites us to respond to His love. This means accepting Christ's death on the cross as payment for our personal sins and receiving Him as our Saviour and Lord. Jesus says: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).

4. Result – a new life with new priorities

God forgiving us and us knowing Him personally is much more than a "ticket to heaven". When God created you, He had the nations of the world on His mind. God wants to use your gifts, talents and personality to help change the hurt, pain and problems we see around us. Putting Jesus in the driving seat launches us into the biggest adventure of our lives, where the well-being of others becomes more important than our own.

If you would like to know God personally, experience his peace and "life to the full", then this invitation is especially for you.

The Bible calls the conscious act of turning from your self-centred life repentance. Repentance is simply a 180-degree U-turn, placing Jesus in the driving seat rather than yourself. God's desire is for everyone to know Him and have that everlasting relationship with Him.
The invitation is to repent (turn from your sins), believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and rose from the dead, and follow Him in obedience as the Lord and saviour of your life.
The Bible promises that: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (John 3:16-17).

If you would like to give your life to Jesus, this is what you can pray:

"God, I admit that I have sinned against others and against You. I now repent and turn from my sins. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, rose from the grave, and is alive forever. I open the door of my heart and life, receiving Jesus Christ as my saviour. I want to follow Him as Lord of my life. Thank you for saving me. Amen."

If you prayed that prayer, committing your life to Christ, you can know without a doubt that you are a child of God. The Bible says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12). You will be with Jesus beyond death.
